Mr Vikesh Patel is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in Preston, specialising in eyelid, lacrimal (watery eye) and orbital surgery, as well as microincisional cataract surgery.
He graduated from the University of Dundee in 1998 and completed his basic ophthalmic surgical training in Taunton and Nottingham, followed by higher surgical training in Nottingham and Cardiff. In 2008, he undertook a prestigious Fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at the Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, one of the UK’s leading centres for reconstructive and plastic eye surgery. He was appointed as a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in 2010.
Mr Patel provides specialist expertise in a range of procedures, including upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, ptosis correction, endonasal dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) for watery eyes, and eyelid reconstruction following tumour excision. His practice also encompasses general ophthalmology and advanced cataract surgery.
Dedicated to medical education, Mr Patel serves as a Royal College of Ophthalmologists Tutor, educational supervisor, and undergraduate academic advisor. He is an active member of the British Oculoplastic Surgical Society (BOPSS) and the European Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ESOPRS), and has presented and published widely in peer-reviewed journals.
