Dr Usaid Allahwala
Cardiology
About
Dr Allahwala’s clinical focus includes coronary artery disease, the number 1 cause of death and dissability in men and women in Australia. He also has a keen interest in preventative cardiology and holistic management of cardiovascular risk factors, including lipids (cholesterol), inflammation and insulin resistance. He also manages common cardiac conditions including valvular heart disease, heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias.
He is highly skilled in non-invasive cardiac investigations such as CT coronary angiography, echocardiography, stress testing, Holter monitoring and blood pressure monitors.
He is highly skilled in invasive procedures including coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). He utilises additional technologies routinely during his stent implants, including intravasuclar imaging (IVUS & OCT), coronary physiology (FFR and iFR). He is also able to perform testing for microvascular dysfunction and coronary vasospasm, particularly impotant in patients with chest pain who may have previously been told they have no heart condition to explain their symptoms.
Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in research, with over 75 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He is involved in supervising PhD and MD students as well as medical student taching.
Dr Allahwala practices at Royal North Shore and North Shore Private Hospital Sydney, where he provides comprehensive, patient-centred cardiology care, combining advanced procedural skills with a strong academic and evidence-based approach to patients in both public and private patients.
Dr Allahwala is available to take on new patients.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
