Dr. med. Thomas Twisselmann ist Facharzt für Innere Medizin und Kardiologie. Er studierte Medizin an der Universität Hamburg und absolvierte ein Auslandspraktikum am Cedars-Sinai-Medical Center in Los Angeles, USA. Seine Promotion schloss er zum Thema "Ausmaß der Gefäßwandverletzung nach Rotablation und anschließender perkutaner transluminaler Koronarangioplastie mit niedrigen Inflationsdrücken. Eine Untersuchung mittels Intravaskulärem Ultraschall" bei Prof. Dr. T. Meinertz ab. Dr. med. Twisselmann ist seit 2004 Facharzt für Innere Medizin und erlangte 2006 die Schwerpunktbezeichnung Kardiologie. Er verfügt über die Zusatzqualifikationen Fachkunde für Strahlenschutz, Thoraxdiagnostik und Interventionsradiologie. Zudem ist er Ausbilder im Asklepios Klinikum Nord, Heidberg, für die Zusatzqualifikation „Interventionelle Koronartherapie“. Seine Expertise liegt insbesondere im Bereich der interventionellen Koronartherapie. Sein wissenschaftlicher Schwerpunkt liegt auf verschiedenen interventionellen Techniken und der Bildgebung (IVUS/FFR). Dr. med. Twisselmann führt deutschlandweit ärztliche Fortbildungen im Bereich der Koronarintervention durch (in Zusammenarbeit mit Cardio Skills, Frankfurt, European Surgical Institute, Norderstedt). Darüber hinaus hält er die Zusatzqualifikationen der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Kardiologie (DGK) für Interventionelle Kardiologie und Spezielle Rhythmologie sowie aktive Herzrhythmusimplantate.
