About
Professor Watson has a wealth of knowledge in the field of ophthalmology and is the chair of the Ophthalmic Research Institute of Australia, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology Advocacy and Outreach Committee, and expert advisor to the Stem Cell Therapies Mission. Her research in corneal stem cell biology has altered clinical practice and improved patient outcomes, and she has brought worldwide clinical trials to NSW.
Professor Watson has a number of accolades and has been named in the Top 100 Power list for Women in Ophthalmology in 2021. She has also won the Dorothy Potter Medal, NSW Premier's Prize for Leadership in Innovation, and the Gustav Nossal NHMRC scholarship. She was also nominated for the NSW Women of the Year award as well as for the Care and Compassion Medal in the Pride of Australia Awards.
