His subspecialty training took place at leading London institutions including St George’s Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, and Barts Heart Centre. Prior to this, he undertook a prestigious heart failure fellowship under the mentorship of Professor John Cleland, an internationally renowned authority in the field.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Gurunathan is committed to medical education. He serves as both educational and clinical supervisor for trainee doctors, teaches medical students from St George’s Medical School and the University of Southampton, and regularly delivers educational sessions for cardiology, oncology and primary care colleagues.

More recently, he was awarded Fellowship of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) for his contributions to the field of cardiology.
