Er ist zertifizierter ACLS Provider (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) und besitzt die SCMR Certification (Kardio-MRT) – Level III sowie die ESC Certification Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Level III. Des Weiteren ist Dr. med. Westphal Mitglied in zahlreichen Fachgesellschaften, darunter die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Kardiologie (DGK), die European Society of Cardiology (ESC) und die American Heart Association (AHA).
