About Dr Sam Walker
Dr. Samuel Walker is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist based in the West Midlands, holding a substantive consultant position at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. Graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2011, he completed foundation medical/surgical rotations within the Royal Free London group of hospitals before specialising in radiology training within the West Midlands Postgraduate School of Radiology. Dr. Walker underwent subspecialist training in advanced Interventional Radiology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham. His extensive NHS practice encompasses various areas, including cancer intervention (such as tumour embolisation and thermal ablation), embolotherapy for benign conditions (such as uterine fibroids and prostate hyperplasia), image-guided diagnostics, vascular access, and general medical imaging. Moreover, he actively supports the Queen Elizabeth Hospital's Regional Urological Cancer Team with imaging and interventional diagnostics. Outside of the NHS, Dr. Walker's practice focuses on providing vascular access services and palliative/diagnostic interventions for private oncology patients. He is deeply invested in medical education, holding a postgraduate qualification in Health Professions Education from UCL. Dr. Walker frequently speaks internationally on various topics within clinical radiology and collaborates closely with medical industry colleagues in the design and evaluation of new devices and interventional treatments. Dr. Walker's academic background also includes a Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Nottingham, where he conducted pre-clinical medical education and laboratory-based research into endothelial dysfunction of the placental vasculature. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, having obtained his FRCR in Clinical Radiology in 2016.
