Mr Ronan McKeown is an experienced consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon with specialist expertise in shoulder and upper limb conditions. He provides comprehensive care for a wide range of problems including rotator cuff tears, impingement syndrome, shoulder arthritis, shoulder instablity, Acromioclavicular Joint dislocation, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, and complex shoulder trauma. His practice includes arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, shoulder replacement, and advanced reconstructive procedures.
Mr McKeown graduated from Queen’s University Belfast Medical School in 1994 before completing higher surgical training on the Northern Ireland Trauma and Orthopaedics Regional Training Programme. Alongside his clinical training, he conducted significant research in the field and was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) from Queen’s University Belfast in 2003. He went on to complete the FRCSI (Tr & Orth) intercollegiate examination in 2004.
Throughout his career, Mr McKeown has maintained a strong focus on delivering patient-centred, evidence-based care. He is highly experienced in the management of fractures, general orthopaedic conditions, and shoulder surgery, offering personalised treatment plans and the latest surgical techniques to optimise outcomes.
