Professor Rashmi Mathew
About
Her professional affiliations include the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, where she is a Fellow, and she serves on the British Ophthalmological Surveillance Unit of the RCOphth and as Honorary Co-Treasurer of the Medical Women’s Federation. Her medical training includes time at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital, where she completed the North Thames training rotation and a double fellowship in glaucoma. Appointed as a Consultant in 2013, she was recognised for her dedication to surgical education as a finalist for the National Silver Scalpel Award in 2020.
Prof. Mathew’s research interests include shared decision-making, health inequalities in glaucoma, and health coaching for glaucoma patients. Her contributions in research, education, and leadership have made her a respected figure in ophthalmology, dedicated to advancing the field and reducing barriers in eye healthcare.
