About meProfessor Thozhukat Sathyapalan ('Sathya') is the Chair in diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism and Honorary Consultant Endocrinologist in Hull. He received his specialist training in Endocrinology, Diabetes and General (Internal) Medicine, initially in Aberdeen and subsequently with the Yorkshire Deanery. He had his postgraduate research fellowship at the University of Hull with Professor Stephen Atkin's group. He was appointed Senior Lecturer in 2009 at the University of Hull, became a Reader in 2012 and was made a Chair in 2016.
His clinical practice encompasses all aspects of Endocrinology and Diabetes including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, pituitary disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), diabetes and obesity. He has published extensively in these areas. He is actively involved in clinical research, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, American College of Physician and Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy. He is also a member of British Endocrine Society, American Endocrine Society and Association of British Clinical Diabetologists.
