Professor Sunil Dolwani is Professor of Gastroenterology and a Consultant Gastroenterologist based in Cardiff, where his NHS gastroenterology practice is at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. Dr Dolwani is a Screening Colonoscopist for the Bowel Screening Programme Wales within Cardiff and Vale UHB and also serves as the Quality Assurance Lead for Colonoscopy for Bowel Screening Wales. He plays a central role in maintaining high standards of safety and performance within the national bowel cancer screening programme.
In addition, he teaches on advanced endoscopy and colonoscopy courses for consultants and trainees across England and Wales, supporting the development of high-level endoscopic skills.
His clinical and research interests include the management and surveillance of individuals and families with hereditary bowel cancer syndromes and familial polyposis. He is actively involved in research exploring improved surveillance strategies and innovative techniques for the identification and assessment of bowel cancer risk.
