Professor David Dunaway, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, currently works within the craniofacial unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London. Following his qualification, he held a position of Consultant Plastic Surgeon in Scotland, before moving down to London to accept a Consultant position at Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2000.
Prof Dunaway's excellent work has been recognised by "The Times" who named him as one of the best surgeons and paediatric doctors in the UK. He has gained this reputation due to his expert skills in facial and reconstructive plastic surgery and the treatment of congenital or acquired deformities. "Tatler" has also recognised him as one of the best plastic surgeons in the UK for facial cosmetic procedures. He pioneered the use of custom-made facial implants within his Trust and practices.
Prof Dunaway has held many professional positions including President of the Plastic Surgery Section of Royal Society of Medicine and Secretary-General of the European Society of Craniofacial Surgeons. He also contributes back to society by partaking in voluntary work in Africa and being a trustee for Facing Africa (a charity that enables the treatment of craniofacial deformity in African children). In 2016, he was given a CBE for his work in the facial surgery field.
