He has expertise in all areas of cardiology and strongly believes in listening to his patients in order to make the right diagnosis. His aim is to find the best treatment for each individual patient, and he is able to perform coronary and valve interventions.
Additionally, he is involved in research into chest pain diagnosis, heart attack treatment, stent implantation, and heart valve implantation. He regularly presents at conferences and has published over 300 research papers.
Prof. Baumbach gained his medical degree in Germany in 1989 before undertaking specialist training in internal medicine, cardiology, and internal intensive care medicine. He later joined the University of Bristol and was appointed chair of device innovation at Queen Mary University of London in 2017.
He speaks English, German and French.
