Dr Nazli Balkir Neftci is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, currently practising at The Psychiatry and Therapy Centre in Dubai. Her earlier academic qualifications include a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Istanbul University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Istanbul Bilgi University. She also holds a Certificate in Psychotherapy from the Turkish Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies.
Her clinical practice focuses on the treatment of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, personality disorders, and adjustment-related challenges such as stress, burnout, and grief. She also supports patients experiencing psychosomatic symptoms, including chronic pain, sleep disturbances and fatigue. She is trained in a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions. Dr Balkir Neftci works with adult patients over the age of 16, providing individual therapy tailored to their psychological and cultural needs.
Her academic career spans multiple institutions, including Canadian University Dubai, where she was Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology, and Isik University in Istanbul, where she co-founded the Graduate School of Clinical Psychology and served as both Assistant and Associate Professor. She has also worked at the German Neuroscience Center in Dubai and Heidelberg University’s Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. In addition to her clinical and academic roles, Dr Balkir Neftci has contributed to mental health support for asylum seekers through voluntary work in Istanbul and has published widely on the influence of culture on psychological disorders and therapeutic outcomes.
She is fluent in English and Turkish, and conversational in German.
