About Mr Muhammad Tawfiq Korim
Mr. Tawfiq Korim is an NHS Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon with specialist expertise in hip and knee replacements, revision knee surgery and knee ligament reconstruction. He undertakes his NHS practice at the University Hospitals of Leicester and his private practice at the Spire Leicester Hospital, and Nuffield Health Leicester. Mr. Korim specialises in hip and knee replacements, knee revision surgery and knee joint preserving surgeries such as articular cartilage transplantation, partial knee replacements and knee osteotomies. He is highly experienced in his field, having performed more than 1000 hip and knee replacements to date. Mr. Korim undertook his initial medical degree from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2003, graduating with Distinction. He then went on to complete his surgical training in Birmingham and Leicester before embarking on a one year hip/knee sub-specialty fellowship training at the world renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, London. Here, he was able to gain experience in all aspects of hip and knee surgery under the supervision of Mr Carrington, Mr Skinner, Mr Miles and Professor Briggs; giving him the highest quality of supervisorship and education. Mr. Korim was appointed as a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon in Leicester in March 2016. In addition to his other accolates, he was also awarded the EFORT travelling fellowship enabling him to visit units in Switzerland (Uniklinik Balgrist, Zurich) and Germany (Endo-Klinik, Hamburg), proving him with further surgical knowledge to benefit his patients. Mr. Korim is also a keen educator and is involved in teaching medical students and trainee orthopaedic surgeons at the University Hospitals of Leicester.
