Mrs Katya Tambe is an experienced Oculoplastic and Cataract Surgeon with a specialist interest in eyelid disorders, periocular skin tumours, and cataract management. Her clinical expertise includes the treatment of conditions such as ptosis, entropion, ectropion, and dermatochalasis, alongside advanced cataract surgery.
She graduated with an MBBS from the University of Pune in 1993, followed by an MS in 1998. She later achieved her FRCSEd in Ophthalmology in 1999 and became a Member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (MRCOphth) in 2013. Mrs Tambe completed her core ophthalmology training at the Birmingham and Midlands Eye Centre, building a strong foundation in both medical and surgical ophthalmology.
Her advanced training includes fellowships in Leicester and at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, as well as international experience in Toronto and Philadelphia. In 2019, she further enhanced her expertise by completing a aesthetic training course at UCLA, a recognised centre in cosmetic surgery.
Alongside her clinical work, Mrs Tambe is actively involved in research and education. She has presented at regional, national, and international conferences, and has published in peer-reviewed journals while continuing to supervise and contribute to ongoing research projects.
