Mr Yatin Thakur – Consultant Gynaecologist & Urogynaecologist
Mr Yatin Thakur is a highly experienced Consultant Gynaecologist with over 25 years of expertise in women’s health. He specialises in urogynaecology, minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery, and advanced gynaecological ultrasound.
He has a particular interest in the management of urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse, offering a full range of both non-surgical and surgical treatments. His extensive experience includes over 500 laparoscopic hysterectomies, more than 1,000 abdominal and vaginal hysterectomies, and over 500 procedures for urinary incontinence and prolapse repair.
Following the pause on mesh procedures in the UK, Mr Thakur has been actively involved in developing and researching safer alternatives. He is the Chief Investigator of the PAUSE Trial, focusing on improved surgical techniques for stress urinary incontinence.
Mr Thakur is also an accredited colposcopist, providing expert assessment and management of cervical abnormalities.
Alongside his clinical work, he is a dedicated educator and trainer. He teaches gynaecological ultrasound at King’s College Hospital, London, and is involved in surgical training at a national level, including cadaveric courses at Cambridge University Hospitals. He regularly trains doctors in laparoscopic hysterectomy, ambulatory hysteroscopy, and urogynaecology procedures.
He is an examiner for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and has published in leading journals, including the International Urogynecology Journal (2025). He has also presented his work internationally.
