Mr Panayiotis Kyzas, Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon, currently works within the Royal Blackburn Hospital and sees patients privately in several clinics based in Preston, Blackburn, and Huddersfield. He is also a fully qualified medico-legal expert, where he provides expert witness for medical cases of oral and maxillofacial surgery, facial cosmetic surgery, and head and neck surgery.
Mr Kyzas is a fully accredited surgeon, he underwent extensive training to achieve this status. During this training, he undertook a TIG H&N fellowship in advanced head and neck surgical oncology and later became a JCST-recognised Head and Neck Surgeon. He is also accredited in microvascular reconstructive surgery. Moreover, he is currently the National Lead for quality outcomes in oral and maxillofacial surgery for head and neck surgery/reconstruction and facial skin cancer.
He actively engages in medical education as a GMC-recognised surgical trainer and is part of the RCSEd faculty of surgical trainers. His expertise in oral and maxillofacial surgery has resulted in his appointment to the Regional Research Advisor for the OMFS Specialty Training Committee. Additionally, he is on the selection committee for the national TIG H&N fellowships. Mr Kyzas's medical education is as successful as his career, winning several scholarships, bursaries, and awards throughout.
Mr Kyzas is also actively engaged with scientific publishing, holding the position of Deputy Editor for the UK's main oral and maxillofacial journal. He is expected to become Editor-in-Chief by 2024, and remain in that position till 2029.
