About Mr Matthew Oliver
Mr Matthew Oliver is a Consultant Hip and Knee Surgeon. He has many years experience treating patients across the UK and abroad. He provides a clear, structured and efficient pathway from diagnosis to recovery, helping patients return to normal life as quickly and safely as possible. He is known for taking the time to explain scans and treatment options offering honest, straightforward advice. He offers a rapid access hip and knee service with appointments typically within 1-2 weeks, fast access to x-ray and MRIs, and a prompt follow up to confirm a treatment plan. Surgery is scheduled without unnecessary delay allowing patient to avoid long waiting times and move quickly towards recovery. Early assessment can make a significant difference to recovery and outcome. In recent years he has gained extensive experience in the use of Arthrosamid Hydrogel injections for painful arthritic knees. Mr Oliver qualified from St Georges Hospital Medical School in 1998, undertaking his Basic Surgical Training at various hospitals in Kent. He then embarked on a year of Academic Medicine, carrying out basic science and clinical studies with a focus on degenerative disorders of the adult knee joint. Following this he joined the renowned South East Thames Higher Surgical Training Rotation in Orthopaedics and passed the FRCS (Tr&Orth). In 2009 he was privileged in being selected to attend an intensive one-year Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of Calgary in Canada. Following his return in 2010, he was appointed as a full time Consultant at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust. Mr Oliver is also interested in Medical Education, actively contributing locally and regionally. He is also a member of his NHS Trust Trauma Board and is actively involved in improving trauma care for patients in South East London, Kent and Medway (SELKaM Trauma Network).
