Professor Imran Mushtaq is a Consultant Paediatric Urologist at the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust(GOSH). He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Child Health, London.
He specialises in urological laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for children and has a clinical interest in reconstructive urology, sex development disorders and neuropathic bladder, as well as bladder exstrophy and epispadias
After completing his medical training at the University of Glasgow, he went on to specialise in surgery at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary and received Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) and the Royal College of Surgeons (Paediatrics). Following this, he undertook his higher neonatal and paediatric medical training at St Mary's Hospital, Manchester and the Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow. He was awarded a Research Fellowship in 1997 with the Institute of Child Health in London.
Professor Mushtaq is actively involved in clinical research with a particular interest in conditions such as hydronephrosis, duplex kidney, neuropathic bladder, bladder exstrophy and hydrocele. He has published over 50 scientific papers and authored 10 book chapters.
