About Mr Guy T Smith
Mr. Guy Smith is a highly accomplished Ophthalmologist and Medical Director with an extensive career in ophthalmic surgery. He graduated with distinction in Neurosciences and honours in Surgery from St. Thomas’ Hospital, London. Following six months in Neurosurgery, Mr. Smith began his ophthalmic training, which resulted in a registrar position at the renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. During his first year at Moorfields Eye Hospital in 1999, he worked in the refractive surgery department, performing photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) under the supervision of esteemed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Mr. Julian Stevens. As a registrar, Mr. Smith gained comprehensive expertise in glaucoma, cataract, vitreo-retinal, corneo-refractive, and oculoplastic surgery. In 2003, he completed a fellowship in Cataract and Corneo-refractive Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, further refining his subspecialty skills. In 2004, Mr. Smith was appointed Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, England, specialising in glaucoma, cataract, and corneo-refractive surgery. He also holds the position of Honorary Consultant in the Refractive Surgery Department at Moorfields Eye Hospital, reflecting his continued contribution to advancements in the field. Mr. Smith is widely published, with numerous research papers in leading medical journals, and he has presented his work at scientific conferences across the UK, Europe, and the United States. He maintains full registration with the General Medical Council and is listed on the Specialist Register as an Ophthalmologist. His professional memberships include the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the British Society of Refractive Surgeons, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the American Academy of Ophthalmologists.
