About Mr Gary Spence
Mr Gary Spence is a renowned Consultant General Surgeon specialising in benign diseases and treatments of the upper gastrointestinal(GI) tract. He currently holds an NHS post at South Eastern Health and Social Caer Trust and practices privately with the Ulster Independent Clinic. Mr Spence helps those suffering from conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux, biliary disease, gallstones, hernias and colonic issues.
He began his career with a degree in Biochemistry from Queens University in Belfast and continued his studies there and was awarded a Medical Degree 3 years later in 1994. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland in 1998 after completing an extensive training scheme in his chosen field before returning to Queens University to become a Doctor of Medicine in 2002. He completed a further fellowship in surgical training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia in 2004. He is a professional member of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland and the Association of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. He remains heavily involved in research and has numerous publications throughout his career.
In his spare time, Mr Spence enjoys road cycling and keeping active.
