Faisal Ahmed is a distinguished senior consultant ophthalmic surgeon at Imperial College Ophthalmology and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London. He specializes in glaucoma and cataract surgery.

A pioneer in his field, Faisal was the first surgeon in the world to utilize the Eyeplate, a groundbreaking glaucoma drainage device. He is also among the first in Europe to implement the Glaucoma MINIject device and is always an early adoptor of new premium intra-ocular lenses for cataract surgery. His innovative surgical techniques have been widely published including a novel surgical simulation model,  which is used worldwide for training surgeons.

Faisal is regularly invited to speak and chair at national and international specialty meetings and conferences.

Faisal is a keen surgical trainer and developed a novel surgical simulation model, to train surgeons on glaucoma surgery which is used worldwide. And is an author for the Emerging Laser and Surgical Treatments for Glaucoma, in collaboration with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Faisal's basic and higher specialist training was predominantly undertaken at Moorfields Eye Hospital, during which time he gained extensive experience within a busy and highly pressurized centre of excellence. He was then an honorary glaucoma research fellow at Moorfields and also completed a clinical glaucoma fellowship at the Western Eye Hospital and Imperial College.

Mr Ahmed is a specialist in glaucoma and is an author for the Emerging Laser and Surgical Treatments for Glaucoma, an e-Learning package in collaboration with the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

Faisal is involved in improving eye services in West Africa training eye care specialists and supporting cataract surgery.
