About Mr Daniel Thornton
I am a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Hand Surgeon at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, based at Leeds General Infirmary. I am also an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Leeds, and am e member of the surgical team on the UK Hand Transplant Programme based in Leeds. I graduated from the University of Leeds Medical School and completed my specialist training in plastic surgery in the Yorkshire region gaining FRCS(Plast). Following this, I undertook further specialist training in hand surgery, comprising two nationally recognised advanced training fellowships in hand surgery (Pulvertaft Centre, Derby; Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds). During this time I also successfully passed the Diploma in Hand Surgery. My interests include medical education and I regularly teach on postgraduate hand surgery and advanced trauma and life support courses run by the Royal College of Surgeons of England, London, in addition to regionally organised courses in hand and plastic surgery. I offer a comprehensive range of plastic, hand and aesthetic/cosmetic surgery procedures and my private practice mirrors my NHS specialist interests of hand surgery, skin cancer, breast surgery, abdominoplasty and body contouring surgery following excess weight loss.
