About Mr Christopher Wright
Mr Chris Wright is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon working across both sites of Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust (MTW). He was appointed permanently in November 2014 having worked as Locum Consultant there since March 2014. Between 2016 and 2020 he was the Clinical Lead for the Colorectal Department at MTW, including taking responsibility for much of the department's response to the COVID pandemic. He has specialist expertise in laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, colorectal cancer and complex abdominal hernia repair. Chris graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 2002 and completed his higher surgical training in the London Deanery in 2013. At the end of his training, Chris was awarded one of just 6 prestigious Ethicon Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowship available nationally, giving him broad experience in advanced laparoscopic (key-hole) techniques. He undertook this 6 month Fellowship at the internationally renowned laparoscopic training unit at Colchester University Hospital. Chris offers his patients the full range of in-patient and out-patient colorectal and general surgical services including emergency surgery. He prides himself on providing a personalised service to his patients with strong emphasis on effective and empathic communication. Chris is also a keen proponent of medical education and is a senior lecturer at the Kent and Medway Medical School, running the 3rd year surgery and perioperative care module for the school.
