Dr Abdelmaksoud completed his medical degree at Cairo University, Egypt in 2002, followed by his Master’s degree in Diagnostic Radiology at the same university. In 2011, he became a Scholar in Interventional Radiology at Stanford University, USA and in 2015, he was awarded his MD from Cairo University, Egypt. Following his scholarship, he established a highly specialised unit for advanced interventional radiology procedures and pioneered the vascular and Interventional Radiology service at his hospital in Egypt.
Dr Abdelmaksoud serves as an official proctor, consultant, and speaker for SIRTEX company, specialising in Yttrium-90 radioembolization for liver cancer treatment. He supervises numerous Y90 radioembolization treatments across Europe, Asia, and Africa. He is also a member of several international societies, including the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), Egyptian Society of Interventional Radiology, and Pan Arab Interventional Radiology Society (PAIRS).
Dr Abdelmaksoud has received numerous excellence awards, including the State Encouragement Award for Medical Science from Egypt in 2014 and the Young Interventional Radiologists Grant from the Global Embolization Symposium and Technologies (GEST) Meeting in the USA. He has been recognised in the Dictionary of International Biography, Cambridge University, UK, as one of the Leading Health Professionals of the World in Interventional Radiology.
Dr Abdelmaksoud's areas of interest in interventional radiology are vast, including liver tumour radioembolization and chemoembolization, prostatic hyperplasia treatment, uterine fibroid treatment, pelvic congestion syndrome treatment, interventional oncology, embolization procedures for body tumours, biliary procedures, trauma embolization, gastrointestinal bleeding embolization, and many more.
