Miss Langdon is a Consultant Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon. They graduated from the University of Leicester in 1990. Following this, they completed their basic and higher surgical training in Bristol. In 1999, they became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Orthopaedics and Trauma.
They then completed a highly specialised training fellowship in hand surgery in Manchester and Wrightington, operating on complex cases with renowned surgeons and Past Presidents of the British Hand Society. Miss Langdon was awarded a Master of Science in Orthopaedic Engineering by the University of Wales Cardiff in 2001, with a dissertation on the biomechanics of Total Wrist Replacement.
Miss Langdon undertakes all forms of hand and wrist surgery, including trauma. They are part of the South West network of hand and wrist surgeons who regularly discuss complex cases and their practices to ensure that they maintain exceptional standards and continue to learn from the wider cases and experience of other surgeons.
Miss Langdon is a UK leader in developing a particular practice and expertise in the technique of surgery using Local Anaesthetic without a Tourniquet (known as WALANT). The injection is modified to reduce pain and stinging, and the lack of a tourniquet allows many more operations to be performed with much-reduced discomfort and without the need for a General Anaesthetic. They have been invited to lecture on this subject at national meetings.
