Während seiner Ausbildung zum Facharzt für Chirurgie war er zusätzlich als allgemeinchirurgischer, plastischchirurgischer und unfallchirurgischer Assistent an der Mühlbacher Universität Wien tätig. Die Ausbildung zum Facharzt für Gynäkologie und Geburtshilfe absolvierte er unter anderem an der Abteilung für gynäkologische Endokrinologie und Fertilitätsbehandlung. Des Weiteren wurde er in allen IVF Techniken an der Abteilung für gynäkologische Endokrinologie ausgebildet.


Die langjährige Erfahrung in seinem Bereich machte Dr. Martin Imhof unter anderem als Vorstand der Abteilung für Gynäkologie und Geburtshilfe am Landesklinikum Korneuburg, als Leiter des Lehrspitals im Landesklinikum Korneuburg Stockerau sowie als Leiter des Karl Landsteiner Instituts für zellorientierte Therapie in der Gynäkologie. Neben seiner praktischen Tätigkeit ist Dr. Martin Imhof auch Autor zahlreicher Publikationen und hält Vorträge zum Thema Transplantationsimmunologie, Endoskopie, In Vitro Fertilisation, Ovarian Tissue Banking und Stammzellmedizin. Zudem ist er Gründer mehrere Institutionen wie beispielsweise des Karl Landsteiner Instituts für Zellorientierte Therapie in der Gynäkologie, Gründungsmitglied des Ludwig Boltzmann Instituts für Krebstherapie und Mitglied zahlreicher Fachgesellschaften.
