During this period, she undertook post-doctoral research at Harvard University. Afterward, she returned to Adelaide as a cardiologist and clinical academic at TQEH before taking on the role of Director of Cardiology at Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) in 2007, a position she continues to hold.
Her research focuses on the relationship between cardiac disease and pregnancy, particularly the ongoing cardiovascular risks for women who experience pregnancy complications such as hypertension, preeclampsia, or gestational diabetes. Additionally, A/Prof Arstall advocates for research and quality assurance through the development and maintenance of high-quality registries for patients with cardiac conditions, such as those dealing with cardiac issues during pregnancy, out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, and infective endocarditis. She also serves on the steering committee for the Coronary Angiogram Database of SA (CADOSA).
