About
His higher surgical training took place at prominent London teaching hospitals, including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals, The Evelina Children’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital, St George’s Hospital, and University College London Hospital. This extensive training resulted in Mr. Williams being awarded the FRCS(OMFS) Gold Medal by the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, recognising him as the top candidate in the national fellowship exam of the Royal College of Surgeons.
Currently, Mr. Williams serves as a substantive NHS Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial/Head and Neck Surgeon at University College London Hospital, where he chairs the head and neck reconstruction multi-disciplinary team. His clinical interests include the management of cancers of the head, neck, and face, as well as microvascular head and neck reconstruction, wisdom tooth and jaw surgery, salivary gland surgery, and facial trauma.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr. Williams completed a PhD at the University College London Cancer Institute, focusing on the molecular biology of human papillomavirus (HPV) and its role in cancer development. His research aimed to identify novel therapeutic targets for HPV-related cancers, earning him the Paul Toller Research Prize from the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Mr. Williams is also an honorary lecturer in The Division of Surgery and Interventional Science at University College London. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and has presented his research at national and international conferences. He is dedicated to teaching and mentoring the next generation of surgeons, serving as a clinical supervisor for oral and maxillofacial surgery registrars and as faculty for the London Free Flap Course at the Griffin Institute.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
