About Ms Lee Teak Tan
Ms Lee Teak Tan is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and Oculoplastic Surgeon who practises at Southend Private Hospital in Westcliff-on-Sea and within the Mid and South Essex NHS Trust. She provides specialist care for patients with eyelid, lacrimal and orbital conditions and has particular expertise in both functional and aesthetic oculoplastic surgery. Ms Tan completed her ophthalmology specialist training in the Oxford Deanery, focusing on oculoplastic surgery. Her subspecialist training includes fellowships at the Oxford Eye Hospital and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, followed by a further oculoplastic fellowship at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford, where she later took up a consultant post. She manages a broad range of eyelid and lacrimal disorders, including eyelid tumours, ptosis, dermatochalasis, entropion, ectropion, epiphora and thyroid eye disease. Her work also includes facial nerve palsy-related eyelid problems and the use of botulinum toxin for functional and cosmetic indications. Ms Tan was awarded a Doctorate of Medicine by University College London for her research in orbital inflammatory diseases and the long-term effects of ocular inflammation. She is actively involved in training and education and serves as the Subspecialty Tutor for Ophthalmology at Broomfield Hospital. She also contributes to medical education as an honorary lecturer at Anglia Ruskin Medical School.
