Dr. Kamran Afsharian is a specialist in pediatrics and neonatology, with 16 years of experience as a clinical pediatrician and neonatologist. Prior to his current role, he served as CEO and medical director of IHD, as well as the clinical head of NICU. His scope of practice encompasses a wide range of complex medical situations among newborns who are either extremely premature or have very low birth weights, along with those who require advanced-level care due to severe illnesses.
Dr. Kamran's area of expertise is pre-term birth and its complications, such as complex birth defects, severe prematurity, and complications around pregnancy, labor, and delivery - including chronic lung disease, poor growth, respiratory distress syndrome heart problems immature skin and eye disorders and underdeveloped digestive neurological systems. Additionally, his practice encompasses babies born full-term who may suffer from infections congenital birth defects care for neonatal surgery in-utero drug exposure or complications from a traumatic birth. He is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) as well as the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
