Dr Adams did his initial medical training at St John's College, Cambridge from 1990 to 1995. He then went on to complete his junior medical training in Oxford. He undertook specialist training in clinical oncology in Oxford from 2001 to 2006. He has been a Consultant in Reading since 2006; with private practice in Windsor and Oxford.
Dr Adams is the principal investigator for clinical trials in lung and breast cancer at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading.
He was the Clinical Governance Lead at the Berkshire Cancer Centre, within the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading between 2006 and 2011. He was the Clinical Lead for Chemotherapy at the centre between 2011 and 2017.
Dr. Adams is the Clinical Supervisor for specialist oncology trainees.
He has written chapters for the Oxford Handbook of Emergencies in Oncology and Problem Solving in Oncology; as well as participating in the authorship of numerous research papers.
