He currently holds the position of lead clinician for the orthopaedic department and acts as the local representative for the UK National Joint Registry. Additionally, he is involved in several research studies, including a national study on the G7 acetabular component for total hip replacement and a randomised controlled trial on the management of patella instability.

Despite his professional commitments, Mr. Acton remains an active sportsman with interests in triathlon, CrossFit, football, and golf. This firsthand experience with training and competition gives him valuable insights into the demands placed on athletes.

In his practice, Mr. Acton plans to provide regular clinics and theatre sessions at the Kingsbridge Private Hospital NW & Galway Clinic, focusing on primary arthroplasty of the hip and knee. He is experienced in cemented and uncemented total hip replacements, kinematic total knee replacements, unicompartmental knee replacements, and alternative treatments such as osteotomy or bracing. He also specialises in acute knee sports injuries, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, arthroscopic meniscectomy and repair, and medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction for recurrent patella dislocation.
