About Mr Jose Blanco
Mr Jose Blanco is an award-winning Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in hip and knee surgery. He holds a substantive consultant post at North West Anglia NHS Trust, where he provides care across Peterborough, Stamford, and Hinchingbrooke. Alongside his NHS role, he practises privately at Fitzwilliam Hospital in Peterborough, Woodland Hospital in Kettering, and Avicenna Clinic in Peterborough. Mr Blanco has extensive experience in a range of hip and knee procedures, including hip arthroscopy, hip replacement surgery, anterior approach hip surgery, and neuromuscular orthopaedic surgery. He also has a particular interest in paediatric orthopaedics. In addition to his clinical work, Mr Blanco is deeply committed to education and training. He serves as Surgical Tutor at North West Anglia NHS Trust, supporting the development of nurse specialists and orthopaedic registrars through clinical and educational supervision. His dedication to advancing orthopaedic standards led to his appointment to the British Society for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery Guidelines Committee. Widely published in peer-reviewed journals and medical textbooks, Mr Blanco's research has been recognised with multiple first-place awards. Patients appreciate his warm, calm, and professional approach to care. Mr Blanco completed his medical degree (MBBS) at St George’s Hospital Medical School in London in 2005 and subsequently gained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS). He achieved Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Trauma & Orthopaedics) and holds a Master of Surgery (ChM) from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In addition, he completed a postgraduate qualification in medical education (PGAMedEd) and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. His specialist orthopaedic training took place within the East Midlands rotation, including placements in Northampton, Kettering, Leicester, Lincoln, and Boston. Mr Blanco is a member of several professional organisations, including the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Society for Children's Orthopaedic Surgery, the British Trauma Society, the British Medical Association, the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management, and the Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie. He is also a registered medicolegal expert. Mr Blanco welcomes both insured and self-funding patients and is recognised by major health insurers including Aviva, AXA Health, Bupa, Cigna, Vitality Health, and WPA.
