About Dr John Cooper
Dr Cooper trained at UCL and Westminster hospital, graduating with a first class BSc in pharmacology in 1981 and qualifying in medicine in 1984. After working in London, he trained in general medicine in Leicester and Cardiff. There he spent 2 years researching atherosclerosis graduating with an MD. He entered into specialty training in cardiology as a registrar at UCL and Middlesex hospitals, and a senior registrar at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. He has been in post as a consultant at Bedford Hospital since 1996 and performed coronary intervention at Papworth Hospital until 2010 when the coronary intervention service started at Bedford. He has been instrumental in the development of local services which now includes cardiac pacing, coronary angiography and coronary intervention. He has a broad experience in general cardiology and general medicine. He enjoys evaluating new therapies. He is the lead cardiologist at Bedford Hospital. He is passionate about delivering high quality personal care to his patients.
