Dr John Abraham is a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with a distinguished career spanning 33 years in the medical field. He brings a wealth of expertise to his full-time private practice at Priory Hospital Hayes Grove, having transitioned from the NHS in August 2023. Dr Abraham has been practicing in the UK for 29 years, 26 of which were spent working for the National Health Service in London. Prior to moving into full-time private practice, he served as a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist in South London for 19 years. Dr Abraham is dedicated to providing comprehensive care that empowers patients to take charge of their recovery. He believes in a collaborative approach, ensuring that patients are fully informed to make the best decisions regarding their treatment and mental well-being. Qualifications & Training Dr Abraham gained his medical degree in 1992 and went on to earn an MD in Psychiatry in 1995. He became a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 1999. Since 2003, he has been on the GMC specialist register for General Adult Psychiatry and Substance Misuse Psychiatry. Clinical Expertise Dr Abraham has vast expertise in treating a broad range of mental health problems. He specialises in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of: • Addictions (Alcohol and Substances) • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) • Mood Disorders (including Depression and Bipolar Disorder) • Anxiety Disorders • Personality Disorders • Trauma-related conditions (including PTSD) • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (OCD) Treatments & Services Offered Dr Abraham offers a flexible pathway of care, ranging from outpatient consultations to full inpatient admission, all based at the Priory Hospital Hayes Grove. Inpatient & Day Care Services: • Private Ward Admission: Comprehensive inpatient treatment for all listed mental health conditions. • Detoxification: Medically supervised inpatient alcohol and drug detoxification. • Addiction Treatment Programme: Admission for the structured 28-day addiction treatment programme. • Day Hospital: Treatment provided through the Cedars Unit at Priory Hospital Hayes Grove. Therapeutic Approach: Dr Abraham adopts a holistic view of recovery. Alongside medical management, he facilitates access to psychological therapy through the specialist therapy services available at Priory Hospital Hayes Grove.
