About Dr Imran Petkar
Dr Imran Petkar is an experienced Consultant Oncologist. He specialises in the treatment of colorectal cancers, thyroid cancers, and head & neck cancers. Dr Petkar currently holds consultations with Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, where he has been since 2019.
During his specialisation and training, Dr Petkar completed a 2-year clinical research fellowship at the Royal Marsden Hospital and the Institute of Cancer Research, where he researched how advanced radiotherapy techniques such as IMRT (intensity modulated radiation therapy), could reduce treatment-related toxicities while also improving patients' quality of life. This work resulted in an MD qualification. Dr Petkar's research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, and he has participated in conferences both nationally and internationally.
Following his training, Dr Petkar undertook a Consultant Clinical Oncologist position at the Royal Marsden Hospital. He spent one year there before taking up his current position at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
