Dr. med. Hans-Leo Nathrath ist Facharzt für Chirurgie und Facharzt für plastische, rekonstruktive und ästhetische Chirurgie. Darauf folgte die Ausbildung zum Facharzt für plastische, rekonstruktive und ästhetische Chirurgie im Krankenhaus München Bogenhausen bei Professor W. Mühlbauer und im Klinikum Rechts der Isar bei Prof E. Biemer.
In seiner Doktorarbeit beschäftigte sich Dr. med. Nathrath mit neuen Techniken zur Deckung großer Weichteildefekte am Unterschenkel. Dieses Thema aus dem Bereich der plastischen Chirurgie bearbeitete er unter der Leitung seines Doktorvaters Prof. W. Mühlbauer.
Dr. med. Nathrath ist Mitglied in der Deutschen Gesellschaft der Plastischen, Rekonstruktiven und Ästhetischen Chirurgen (DGPRÄC), der International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) und der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Chirurgie (DGCH).
