Dr Devan Mahadavan is a highly experienced Imaging Cardiologist with specialist expertise in advanced cardiac imaging, heart failure, valvular heart disease, inflammatory heart disease, pulmonary hypertension, and rare cardiomyopathies. Dr Mahadavan graduated from Flinders University in 1997 and completed his cardiology training at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 2005. He subsequently undertook advanced postgraduate and fellowship training in cardiac imaging across the United Kingdom and Brisbane, gaining extensive expertise in all major cardiac imaging modalities, including echocardiography, cardiac MRI, and cardiac CT.
He holds Level 3 accreditation in both echocardiography and cardiac MRI, as well as Level A accreditation in Cardiac CT.
Since 2009, Dr Mahadavan has served as a Staff Specialist Cardiologist and Head of Cardiac Imaging across The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Lyell McEwin Hospital. He also practises as an Imaging Cardiologist at Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he contributes to the diagnosis and management of complex cardiovascular conditions using advanced imaging techniques.
His clinical and research interests focus particularly on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, which formed the basis of his doctoral thesis, as well as valvular heart disease and inflammatory cardiac conditions. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications and is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences within his areas of expertise.
In recognition of his contributions to cardiology, Dr Mahadavan was elected a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2015.
