Dr Foteini Kavvoura

Dr. Foteini Kavvoura is an experienced Consultant Endocrinologist specialising in diabetes, endocrinology, and bariatric medicine at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust. With over 15 years of experience, Dr. Kavvoura has a wealth of expertise in managing a wide range of endocrine, diabetes, and obesity-related issues. She is passionate about providing personalised, holistic care. At the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, Dr. Kavvoura leads the Department of Diabetes &  Endocrinology.  She is proficient in managing various endocrine conditions, including thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, and parathyroid problems, as well as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), fertility issues, and testosterone replacement therapy.  Dr. Kavvoura has a special interest in both type 1 and early onset type 2 diabetes, as well as the integration of technology in diabetes management. She also serves as the regional lead for genetic forms of diabetes in West Berkshire. She has extensive experience in medical weight loss management,  and offers comprehensive pre- and post-bariatric medical care. Dr. Kavvoura earned her medical degree with first-class honours from the University of Ioannina, School of Medicine, Greece in 2005. She completed her PhD in Genetic Epidemiology at the same university, leading to several publications in esteemed scientific journals. Her clinical training took place at the East of England and Oxford, and she served as an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer at the University of Oxford from 2012 to 2016, receiving awards from organisations like the American Diabetes Association and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kavvoura is actively involved in medical education. She serves as the Foundation Training Programme Director at the Oxford Foundation School and regularly teaches medical students, doctors in training, and other healthcare professionals. Dr. Kavvoura is a member of various professional associations, including: -Association of British Clinical Diabetologists, - Society for Endocrinology, -Diabetes UK - Association for the Study of Obesity -European Society for Endocrinology.
