About

Dr Simon Taggart has been a dual accredited Consultant Chest & General Physician since 2000. He is also the former Lead Lung Cancer Clinician for Salford and Chair of the Northwest Sector MDT for Lung Cancer (2000-2018).

Dr Taggart has published an MD thesis on Asthma: Pollution and Allergens and is the author of more than 50 peer reviewed articles and research papers. Dr Taggart also writes  between 150-175 medical reports relating to industrial injury and clinical negligence per year. He is an Honorary Clinical Tutor to The University of Manchester.

Dr Taggart has a major interest in troublesome cough, unexplained breathlessness and non-cardiac chest pain. During the Covid-19 pandemic he has developed a signifincat interest in Long Covid symptoms and particularly cough, fatigue and shortness of breath.

Many of his patients have multiple co-morbidities and as such he is well qualified to care for them. In his recent 360 degree 2024 Consultant Appraisal, all  patients surveyed rated their satisfaction of Dr Taggart's service in the top category of "very good."

Dr Taggart also has wide experience in the field of general medicine and specialist respiratory medicine.

Dr Taggart runs 3 private clinics per week (Monday pm at Spire Hale Clinic, Wednesday pm Zoom remote, Friday pm Spire Manchester Hospital)
