Dr Jayeshkumar Patel
Paediatrics
About
I specialise in general paediatric neurology with specific interest in epilepsy, headaches and migraine, movement disorders including tics and Tourette syndrome, fits, faints and funny turns, weakness and unexplained intermittent symptoms.
I have also been providing regular medico-legal reports on high value cerebral palsy and other brain injury cases on behalf of both Claimants and Defendants for the High Court of Justice over the last 17 years.
In my NHS practice I am one of the senior consultants within my group with a very busy clinical service. I frequently provide advice to regional and national colleagues on the management of children with difficult neurological problems especially epilepsy.
I am the Medical Lead for epilepsy surgery in Bristol.I have extensive training in paediatrics and paediatric neurology allowing me to diagnose conditions that may appear on the surface to be neurological in origin, as well as those that are clearly neurological in origin.
In addition to my clinical work I am also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol involved with clinical teaching and examination of medical students. I teach and host national epilepsy courses aimed at education of professionals at all levels from junior doctor and nurses to other paediatric neurologists from all over the world.
“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”
