About
After gaining membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in 2004 he began training in gastroenterology as an SpR. During this time, he developed a particular interest in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). He is active in research and his principle research interest is the diagnosis and treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. It is in recognition of his research in this field that he was awarded a research doctorate (MD(res) by Kings College London in 2014. He continues to have an active research and clinical interest in the management of functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) such as IBS and the use of probiotics and dietary manipulation to manage these conditions.
In 2012 he relocated to Kent and took up his NHS Consultant Post at Darent Valley Hospital. He has held a variety of leadership posts including Lead for Gastroenterology and Clinical Director for Adult Medicine. In 2013 he was accredited as a bowel Cancer screening Colonoscopist with the National Bowel Cancer Screening programme and continues to offer screening colonoscopy in his NHS practice as part of the national screening programme. In 2018 he reduced his Managerial responsibilities and took a career break to start his family. Having returned to work, he know holds the post of Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) and Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) for his NHS organisation. In this role he is responsible for and committed to ensuring the safe development, introduction and integration of IT systems to support the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
Dr. Sisson undertakes his private practice in the KIMS Hospital, (near Maidstone and very close to junction 7 of the M20) he chooses to work with the KIMS team because of the quality of the facilities they have to offer and their commitment to providing high quality, safe and effective, patient care, and a first class patient experience.
Dr. Sisson's aim is to offer a high-quality private gastroenterology services to the people of Kent and the surrounding areas. He is especially proud to practice with a relaxed and approachable clinical style whilst maintaining high clinical standards and up to date clinical skills and practice. He only works with other experienced health professionals who share this ideology to ensure that together they are offering a holistic, patient centred, and sensitive care tailored to each patient's individual needs.
All aspects of investigations and treatment plans are delivered by an experienced consultant guaranteeing both continuity and quality of care.
Dr. Sisson offers a full diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic service. He is an accredited colon cancer screening colonoscopist as part of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP).
