Dr Ed Burns has been qualified as a Doctor since 1999 and decided to specialise in the field of Psychiatry from 2003. Before he chose to become a Psychiatrist he worked in several A&E departments and began understanding physical health problems with regards to mental health.

He currently works for the Priory Hospital but before this, he worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist within the South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust. He worked as both a Medical Manager and Associate Medical Director through undertaking a Darzi Fellowship and then became Consultant. This allowed him to develop his leadership skills and has provided him with the dedication to continually improve the mental health services currently available. He treats a range of conditions including bipolar disorder, depression, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) and somatic symptom disorder (SSD).
