About Dr Andreas Polychronis
Dr Andy Polychronis obtained his qualification of Medicine from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1995 and gained his MRCP in 1998. He earned a PhD from Imperial College in 2007 after researching in the field of growth factor signalling pathways in cancer. Having completed his medical oncology training at pan-Thames rotation, he was appointed Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in 2008. His speciality is in treating thoracic and gastrointestinal cancers including unknown primary and acute oncology. His patients get the best care as he works with several multidisciplinary teams that of the lung and colorectal cancers. These include thoracic surgeons, colorectal surgeons, clinical oncologists, gastroenterologists, respiratory physicians, histopathologists, radiologists as well as clinical nurse specialists. He is also an active researcher in addition to acting as chief national and local principal investigator on a range of clinical trials within the national portfolio and is involved in phase II/III clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents. On the other hand, he is an advisor to pharmaceutical companies on relevant cancer strategies.
