About Prof Declan Murphy
Professor Declan Murphy is an expert Urologist with 2 decades of experience working in both the UK and Australia. He is the Founding Director of Cancer Specialists in Melbourne and sees patients at Epworth Hospital Richmond and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne. Prof Murphy is also the Director of Genitourinary Oncology, Director of Robotic Surgery at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Professorial Fellow at the Sir Peter MacCallum Department of Oncology at the University of Melbourne. Prof Murphy completed his medical degree at the National University of Ireland, Republic of Ireland in 1996. He completed his specialist training in Urology at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, London and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Urology in 2006. He became a Specialist in Urology, registered by the General Medical Council (UK) in 2008 and was appointed as a Consultant Urologist at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital in 2008. Prof Murphy completed a fellowship in Laparoscopic and Robotic Urology in Melbourne, supervised by Professor Tony Costello and returned to Australia in 2010. He became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Urology in 2011. Prof Murphy's practices exclusively in genitourinary oncology with the majority (around 90%) of both his clinical and research practice surrounding the surgical treatment and management of prostate cancer.
