About Dr David Richardson
Dr David Richardson completed his secondary education at a state comprehensive school in Plymouth before earning a degree in Zoology from Swansea University. Following several years of travel, he settled in New Zealand, where he trained as a mature medical student at the University of Auckland, graduating in 1998. He began his medical career in Rotorua and later gained valuable experience in Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine while working in Australia. Returning to the UK in 2000, Dr Richardson settled in Edinburgh in 2002, developing a broad foundation across multiple hospital specialties before pursuing a career in general practice. After completing his GP training through the RCGP in 2007, he served as a full-time GP partner at West End Medical Practice for six years. Today, Dr Richardson combines NHS and private sector roles within a diverse portfolio practice. His professional interests include patient-centred general practice, dermatology, minor skin surgery, lifestyle and health promotion, health screening, and occupational health. Outside of medicine, he lives in central Edinburgh with his wife and two young children. An active enthusiast of cycling, sailing, and the outdoors, Dr Richardson brings his broad life experience and curiosity for people to every patient interaction.
"Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions."
