About

Clare Steedman is a highly regarded Specialist Occupational Therapist specialising in Eating Disorders, as well as a Systemic Psychotherapy Practitioner and EMDR Therapist. She co-founded TEDS (The Eating Disorder Specialists) and currently serves as its Clinical Director. Clare holds registrations with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and is the Co-Chair of The Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT) Specialist Interest Group in Eating Disorders.

With extensive experience spanning in-patient, day patient, and community settings, Clare previously held the role of Lead Specialist Occupational Therapist at Vivre Care. She has a strong background in conducting Eating Disorder training seminars and actively engages in research within the field. Clare is particularly skilled in administering the Eating and Meal Preparation Skills Assessment, a unique tool focused on evaluating food-related tasks.

As Co-Chair of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Interest Group in Eating Disorders, Clare advocates for enhanced community-based support for adults with Eating Disorders. Her passion for improving accessibility to tailored treatment in the community led to the inception of TEDS. Alongside her colleague Rachael, Clare envisioned TEDS as a compassionate service dedicated to empowering adults with Eating Disorders to achieve recovery and lead fulfilling lives. Their initiative aims to bridge the gap in community-based Eating Disorder care, providing individualised support essential for sustained recovery.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”

— Ms Clare Steedman
