À propos

Charlotte Tomlinson is a Consultant Genetic Counsellor at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, where she jointly leads the general genetics service, including the Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) service. She has been a consultant genetic counsellor at the trust since 2018.
Charlotte completed her undergraduate degree in Human Genetics at the University of Nottingham and subsequently obtained a postgraduate qualification in Genetic Counselling. Prior to her current role, she worked as a trainee genetic counsellor at the Bristol Clinical Genetics Service and as a genetic counsellor at St George’s Hospital Clinical Genetics Service.
Her clinical work includes general and neuropredictive genetic counselling, preimplantation genetic testing, prenatal counselling, and service development. She developed the first Klinefelter’s MDT clinic in the UK, with a focus on fertility, which has garnered national and international attention.
Charlotte is an active member of professional bodies and committees, including the Genetic Counsellor Registration Advisory Board (GCRAB), where she has served as a portfolio assessor and board member; the Regulation Board of the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS); and the RCOG Genomics Committee. She is also involved in the British Society for Genetic Medicine’s fetal medicine unit genomics steering committee. Her work incorporates psychosocial skills in addition to genetic expertise to support patient care.

“Evidence-based care tailored to each patient — taking the time to explain options and shared decisions.”

— Mrs Charlotte Tomlinson
